Developing a Repeatable Weekend Chart Routine: From Macro Range Marking to Micro Execution Plans
The quality of your real-time trading decisions is decided long before the opening bell rings. When markets are moving in real time, emotional adrenaline clouds analytical objectivity. The solution is a disciplined weekend chart routine conducted when markets are closed and charts are still.
The 4-Step Weekend Preparation Protocol
At Neuron Path Hub, our weekend chart lab follows a structured 90-minute protocol that any serious market student can replicate at home:
- Step 1: Macro Horizon Audit (Weekly Charts). Strip away all indicators and examine pure price action across weekly timeframes. Identify whether major asset classes are trending, consolidating near historical highs, or resting at multi-month support bases.
- Step 2: Range Boundary Calibration (Daily Charts). Draw clean, horizontal support and resistance bands around ongoing consolidation structures. Avoid single-line points; use translucent rectangular zones that account for historical wick clusters.
- Step 3: Compression & Coil Identification (4-Hour Charts). Scan for tightening volatility patterns—such as symmetrical pennants, horizontal rectangles, or wedge formations. Note the volume behavior over the preceding 10 trading days.
- Step 4: The 'If-Then' Scenario Sheet. Write down concrete conditional rules for the upcoming week. For example: 'If price breaks above 185.50 with volume > 2x average AND retests successfully on the 1H chart, then initiate long with stop below 183.20. Otherwise, remain in cash.'
By entering each week with predetermined scenarios, you eliminate hesitation and emotional reactivity, allowing you to execute with the calm precision of an educated analyst.
